Himera is an early-stage DEX exploring how AI can help users make safer trading decisions. This case study distinguishes shipped work from planned direction.

Context

As co-founder and full-stack engineer, I am building Himera while self-employed. The product began as an early DEX concept with an AI safety angle and went through a startup-house validation experience.

Problem

Retail trading experiences in DeFi can be difficult to navigate safely. Himera explores whether AI assistance can help users make better-informed trading decisions.

Constraints

Early-stage product with limited resources.
Need to separate vision from what is actually shipped.
Product still evolving after early validation work.

Role

Lead Software Engineer, Full-Stack (Himera LLC)

Key responsibilities

Built full-stack features with Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and blockchain SDKs (Solana / EVM).
Led system design using Clean Architecture principles, decoupling business rules from frameworks and blockchain providers.
Participated in hackathons and startup programs with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Documenting learnings as the product evolves.

Technical decisions

Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js for full-stack product delivery.
Clean Architecture to keep business rules independent from frameworks and blockchain providers.

Outcome

Lessons learned

Early product work benefits from separating narrative ambition from shipped functionality.
Startup validation pressure can clarify what the product actually needs next.
